Tim Jablonski

Tim Jablonski passed away on December 4, 2023, after a lengthy illness, in Port Ludlow, Washington. Tim is survived by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart Katie Dettmers WJ '71 and their son Jason. Tim attended St. Jane Frances de Chantel School, North Bethesda Junior High, WJ, and Juniata College in Pennsylvania. He had a career in business and lived in many parts of the country, including the midwest and southern california. Tim was a big guy who always wore a big smile, had a big heart, and knew how to have fun. He loved the outdoors, particularly skiing and surfing. He was so proud of his son Jason's accomplishments. Tim and Katie attended many WJ reunions over the years and he was always extremely generous in his support. Tim cherished his many WJ friends and they cherished his friendship.

This notice will be updated as more information becomes available. Please read Tim's profile on the website and his answers to the associated questionnaire. Tim shared many great photos and anecdotes on his profile.

Tim was a valued member of our band at N. Bethesda Jr. High, always cheerful and a great student who always did his best in rehearsals and concerts.  I am greatly saddened by his early passing and send sincere sympathy to his family and friends. RIP dear Tim.

All the comments so richly deserved for Tim and his family.  I thought of him distinctly early this week.  I go back to Wildwood Swimming Pool too; pick-up football games on church lots after school; his bear hugs at reunions.  He embraced life and embodies the special nature of us fortunate ones to grow up in Bethesda area during that time.  When one thinks of what a "Great Guy" truly is: put his picture on the wall in your mind.  RIP Tim.  Tom Gravesf

So sorry to hear of the passing of Tim. I remember Tim From,St Janes,NB and Walter Johnson. I remember him with his endless jokes and stories and beaming smile. We reconnected later when he and Katie moved to Southern California. I loved Tim's passion for Surfing,he would paddle out in any condition, take a beating ,and come out smiling !  R.I P my friend.

All the previous comments describe Tim so well. Although, I didn't know him well, I knew him well enough to remember what a kind and gentle soul he was. Blessings to his family.

Tim and Katie had a time share on Maui, and we would get together when they would come for a visit. Tim was one of the easiest guys to talk to.  His enthusiasm for life was as big as his stature. He told great stories of his adventures, yet it was not a one sided conversation, as he was genuinely interested in hearing your story as well. Tim was definitely one of the "good guys" who left his mark in such a positive way.  Condolences to Katie and Jason as you find your way without Tim's presence. He will be missed by all who knew him.  RIP, Tim.

This is the most difficult 'news' to deal with & to respond to.Tim was a longtime friend of mine since North Bethesda Jr. HS. & then throughout WJ. Along the way, we played sports together & interacted in classes & social clubs like the Wheel club. God Speed Tim ! My heart goes out to his family.  - Randy

I got to know Tim senior year, and I remember that he was warm to be around and smiled more than the rest of us. The town where he's lived for a while, Port Ludlow (not far from Seattle, where I am), is in a scenic, peaceful little inlet at the mouth of the Hood Canal in Puget Sound. Washington State has many small towns like this, increasingly populated by retirees and some younger families escaping city life. The town, and the world, will have lost something with Tim's passing. We need people like him more than ever.
