Gerald Scheirburn

According to newspaper reports, Gerald Scheirburn died at age 40 in July, 1991. He had been homeless and was the victim of an assault in Rockville. After high school, he served in the Air Force for one year and later joined the reserves. He had his own landscape business but became disabled as a result of a car accident. According to friends and relatives, he battled alcoholism after his disability. He loved to sing Willie Nelson songs and try to make people laugh.

Gerry and I dated throughout our Sr year. He was a fine young man with a kind and loving heart. I'll never forget how we found a kitten by the roadside late one night. He took it in and sheltered it in his strong arms until it stopped shivering and fell asleep. He was like that. A good man. I will never forget him.
