John Goodwin died at age 49 in Virginia Beach Virginia on September 11, 2000. Born in San Diego, California, John had retired from the defense contractor industry after 22 years of service. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland, Class of 1973, and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Survivors included his father and stepmother as well as a brother.

John William (Bill) Bowling
John grew up on the street immediately behind me, and we knew each other since elementary school. He came to all my birthday parties as a little kid. I believe our mom's played bridge together. In high school I understand he was a great athlete and a valuable addition to the football team although he was never boastful or drew attention to himself. He tended to be quiet and shy around girls. I'm very sad to hear he's gone.Bill Bowling
