Gene Williams VIEW PROFILE

Gene Williams

Gene Williams passed away on October 22, 2021, as a result of numerous health issues he struggled with over the past several years. Gene lived alone in Jesup, Georgia, after his mother passed away several years ago. Gene was an expert computer programmer/engineer, an avid gun collector, and an excellent guitarist who loved his music as evidenced by his many musical YouTube posts on the WJ Class of 69’ website. Gene was also a police officer in Key West and in Central Florida. He is survived by his brother Bob, of Savannah, Georgia. No further information is available at this time.

Oh, gosh, I am so sorry to hear of Gene's passing.  I remember Gene as a quiet sort of guy, soft spoken, but I think that may have belied a bit of an undercover wilder side. Gene and I reconnected through this WJ website a number of years back, and had some very thoughtful & delightful conversations.  As least two of our reunions happened during the time we were corresponding, but each time he took a bye on attending.  I know he loved his dog, and the quiet rural lifestyle that he led. Reading what Mickey Matthews posted in Gene's memoriam announcement, I didn't realize he had been a policeman, but I was very aware of his proficiency in computers and music.  It's never easy to hear about another one of our classmates passing on.
RIP, Gene. You were a quiet guy, but you had a brilliantly creative mind. As a great appreciator of good music, may the music of the spheres be what you now hear.
