We recently learned that Marleen died on December 15, 2020, during surgery. A long-time resident of Gaithersburg, at the time of her death, she and her husband Bob Meier had been living in their new home in Leland, NC. She is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren. Marlene had attended many WJ reunions in the past. There was no obituary and, due to Covid, a very small memorial service was held.

My Mom moved us to Silver Spring when I was in 4th Grade. Marleen and her parents lived one building over. They couldn't have been nicer to me and I have never forgotten it. Marleen was such a kind and gentle soul, and I always looked forward to seeing her smile at our Reunions and catching up as though it had been yesterday. I miss her already.

Marleen was always that cheerful person who I loved seeing everyday. We had some fun car drives with Claire Dawe . Even though we didn't see one an another often , she always put a smile on my face.

Wow! I am so sad to hear this! She was such a gas to hang out with at the reunions. I loved kidding her about the inventive way she turned me down when I asked her out in high school. And her story about the pet monkey she had in college (did she make that up to pull my leg?). She was always fun, with a great smile. I'm with you Dave, I miss her too.
